Are Images (X-Rays and MRIs) Helpful?

In short, it depends. Ultimately, whether or not you get the images done, you must still focus on the bigger picture - how are your daily health practices?

People think that by getting imaging done, they will figure out precisely what is wrong with their body and that they will know what to do to make improvements. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes the imaging is inconclusive, complicates things for you, and/or creates fear, leaving you feeling even more lost than before.

Sometimes images can be very validating as they can point to something that is for sure causing a problem. “Thank goodness it isn’t all in my head,” is something many people say when something is clearly visible in an image.

Images can find serious issues - discs causing temporary paralysis, tumors, or other diseases. They can be life-saving! Most images do not have serious issues pop up on them.

However, getting the images does not detract from the fact that we must lead a healthier lifestyle to address the underlying cause of the issue.

This brings us to your daily habits.

The problem with tests and images is that they do not necessarily provide you with any actionable tasks that would have been different had you NOT gotten the images done in the first place.

In a majority of instances, EVERYONE must improve their sleep, exercise/move more, eat more whole foods, practice mindfulness, educate themselves about their body to gain confidence, and improve their support structure (are you surrounding yourself with people who have similar health goals?). Whether something appears in your image or not, simply making small improvements to all of the areas listed above will have a positive impact on your pain and overall health.

If you are speaking with your doctor and are contemplating getting an Xray, MRI, CT, or other scan, ask your doctor, “what are some potential things we could learn from getting the image done, and how is it going to change my plan of care?” If you know you don’t want surgery, then what is the plan after you get the results? In a majority of instances, the plan of care remains the same before and after the image is done.

Make 1% improvements EVERYWHERE.

At Whealth, we teach you how to make 1% improvements in multiple areas of your life at once to help you eliminate chronic pain. When it comes to improving pain, there is a concept called the “Biopsychosocial model of pain.” This model looks at the endless possibilities of things that can contribute to why someone has chronic pain. Rather than trying to focus on ONE area of your life to improve, we help you make improvements to multiple aspects of your life. This has proven to help people overcome pain much faster than by focusing on JUST movement or JUST nutrition or JUST mindset.

By following this process, you address the underlying cause of why you are experiencing pain and illness. Whether you have had images done or not, you will greatly benefit from tackling the WHOLE picture sooner than later.

With over 100 5-Star Reviews and a 30-day money back guarantee on our programs, you can enroll for no risk and overcome your pain. Try our Limitless or Hypermobility program!
