ANDREW DETTELBACH

I have been in the pain relief industry since 2012. As of 2023, I have helped over 22,000 people overcome their pain in my programs. How is my coaching different? I have experienced numerous bouts of chronic pain throughout my life as a result of hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I understand the struggles that our members are going through and what is needed physically and mentally to overcome those struggles.

When I was 23 (2013), I experienced severe back pain and was diagnosed with a 10mm herniation at my L4/L5 in my lower back. This was my second introduction to severe chronic/persistent pain resulting in sciatica down both legs for 2 years straight. My first introduction to chronic pain was a “deep bruise” in my heel when I was 8 or 9 - this lasted for 6 months and required me to wear a boot for months. My disc herniation was far more debilitating - I struggled to stand up straight, was unable to use the restroom without pain, barely slept, couldn’t walk more than 100 feet without needing to sit down, had to wear a compression brace 24/7, utilized lumbar support while seated and driving, and took a myriad of medications that numbed my mind more than my body. I did get a transforaminal steroid epidural injection that helped me for 1 week before all the pain came back. Needless to say, I have experienced the physical and mental darkness of severe, debilitating pain. Persistent pain destroys your lifestyle and relationships and often sends you down a spiral of dark thoughts.

I was told by multiple doctors, surgeons, PTs, and chiros that I would need surgery to resolve my pain. I was told that I wouldn’t be able to lift weights again, that I wouldn’t be able to travel without a back brace, and that I would likely have to deal with back pain/sciatica for the rest of my life. I knew that my family member had undergone 6 failed back surgeries and I had worked with dozens of patients that also had failed back surgeries. I felt that surgery was a gamble and refused to do it. I spent 2 years learning new movement patterns and strengthening my body in a new way. The result was overcoming my disc herniation without surgery and teaching others to do the same. A few years afterward, I started creating online programs to help people all around the world.

I have experienced debilitating chronic/persistent pain in nearly every part of my body before age 26. I have overcome all of them and kept the injuries at bay. The methods I have come up with have helped over 22,000 people worldwide overcome their persistent pain.

I am grateful for every struggle that I have had because it has allowed me to help someone else through theirs. What are my qualifications? I have a Kinesiology degree with an emphasis in pre-physical therapy. I decided not to go to Physical Therapy school after having spent 4 years in the clinical setting working with people hands-on. The cost of schooling was unreasonable to me for the low salaries that PTs received.I also have my FRCms cert and Onnit durability cert. I have gotten several other training certifications, including CF-L1.

Lastly, I have tremendous experience working with people in person and online. I have seen thousands of different diagnoses, and my programs have helped all of them.

Today, I continue to push my body and mind to new limits, and I encourage everyone to live to their fullest potential, whatever that may look like to them.

My interest in health and wellness began 20 years ago when I starting a career in nursing because I was passionate about helping others. I enjoyed working as a critical care nurse but I grew increasingly frustrated with our healthcare (sick care) system as a whole.

After navigating the medical system as a patient with and struggling to get the answers to my own health issue, I realized how many other people were struggling and being left without guidance. I knew I had to help people in a different way.

I underwent a 6 hour surgery to repair pelvic organ prolapses and was diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I dove into studying movement. I trained in Pilates, and obtained multiple movement certifications including FRCms and ONNIT durability.

I have also overcome pain and injuries from:

  • disc bulges

  • hip labral tear

  • diastasis recti

  • functional scoliosis

  • neck pain from a car crash

  • shoulder subluxation and tear

I created online programs with Andrew, coaching many thousands of people over the years. Through our injuries, we have been able to help our members overcome their pain and injuries, too. I am passionate about educating, raising awareness, and advocating for these patient populations who struggle with chronic pain and I’m honored to have been given opportunities to speak publicly in the United States and internationally to educate professionals on these topics. I have enjoyed witnessing a rise in public awareness regarding pelvic health and hypermobility in the last few years and will do my part to make sure that continues. (We still have a long way to go!)

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my sweet sons, being outdoors, cleaning and organizing ALL THE THINGS (yes, seriously), collecting plants, cooking, reading, and laughing with the loves of my life. I cherish my fiancé, Andrew, and love our family and the life we've created. I’m grateful for my experiences- especially the challenging ones which led me to where I’m at today.

Three years ago, my life as I knew it came crashing down due to a disc herniation in my lower back. I went from swimming, weight lifting, and running hours each day to being bed ridden with severe sciatica. I wasted thousands of dollars and many hours at chiro and PT appointments, none of which helped. My life changed when I crossed paths with Andrew. He had overcome the SAME situation (a herniated disc and sciatica) despite being told by several medical professionals that he would never be able to do so. He was the beacon of light for me, and I have followed his teachings of movement ever since.

Since doing his program in 2017, I’ve been completely pain free (something my chiro said would never happen) and I am healthier and happier than ever. Today, I do a mixture of powerlifting, body building, as well as end-range strengthening and mobility. Running, biking, and swimming are among my current top favorite sports. Laughing is my favorite hobby in the world.

I have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from USC in Industrial and Systems Engineering. After graduating, I had the opportunity to work for Andrew and Katie doing Sales, Operations, and Marketing. I have been working with them ever since.

The most rewarding result of my injury is that it ultimately led me to this team and professional path. It is my goal to enable you to live a better life because I know you can. I’ve been overweight, I’ve been in pain, I’ve been unhappy. We’ll show you the right steps to take, and you will never look back.
