Recovering from 2 Cervical + 3 Lumbar Disc Herniations, Neck Surgery, Sciatica (with Hypermobility)

Mitchell Dudas spent his life immersed in movement and fitness.

Professional dancer. Flying trapeze instructor. Personal trainer. Yoga instructor. Pain, injuries, and extreme flexibility had always seemed “normal” to him.

Then at 33 years old, during one of his longtime “hypermobile party tricks,” dropping into the splits at a party, everything changed. When he tried to stand back up, he temporarily lost feeling and control below his shoulders.

An MRI later revealed severe cervical disc herniations at C5-C6 and C6-C7 causing spinal cord compression. Multiple doctors warned him about paralysis risk, and shortly after his 34th birthday, Mitchell underwent a multilevel cervical disc replacement surgery.

But even after surgery, things still weren’t improving the way he hoped. Years later, Mitchell was still struggling with:

• chronic neck and shoulder pain

• multiple lumbar disc herniations

• sciatica • inflammation

• flare-ups

• fear around movement and exercise

What frustrated him most was that many doctors and PTs looked at his flexibility and range of motion and essentially told him there was nothing to treat. “You move great.” “Your mobility is excellent.” Meanwhile, every day still hurt.

Mitchell shares how one of the lowest moments of his journey was questioning whether this was simply if he could continue living life like this.

Then came one of the biggest turning points in his recovery: Learning that he likely had a hypermobile spine.

In this episode, Mitchell talks openly about how hypermobility, instability, compensation patterns, and years of overpushing contributed to chronic pain, failed rehab attempts, and eventually surgery.

He also shares how the Whealth Hypermobility Program helped him begin rebuilding strength, improving control over his excessive range of motion, reducing flare-ups, and feeling optimistic about his future again.

Months later:

• his inflammation, sciatica, and pain are dramatically lower

• he’s squatting over 300 lbs again

• flare-ups calm down faster

• he’s returned to many activities with significantly less pain

• and he finally feels hopeful about his body again

If you’re dealing with:

• hypermobility or joint instability

• chronic neck pain or shoulder pain

• disc herniations or sciatica

• pain after surgery

• cervical disc replacement or fusion recovery

• fear of movement after injury

• chronic inflammation or instability

• feeling dismissed by doctors or PTs …this episode is for you.
