Hypermobile Athlete Overcomes His Chronic Pain- Sam Indresano

4 years ago as a junior in high school, I was told by a geneticist that I should never play competitive sports again because I had hypermobility. By that time, I had recently developed two tibial stress fractures, shoulder impingement, SI joint dysfunction and persistent costochondritis- all of which I was told were due to benign joint hypermobility syndrome.  My hypermobility may make for some neat circus-like tricks, but I thought it was effectively a death sentence for me as an athlete.

After spending years trying cortisone injections, PRP, physical therapy and daily doses of Advil, I felt I had no choice but to hang up my cleats and accept that I may live the rest of my life in pain.

My life changed when, luckily, I came across Andrew (who has hEDS) and eventually Whealth on IG - and have since written my own comeback story. Having joined the Limitless program 4 months ago, I can confidently say that:

 1) I have come across countless fantastic medical professionals who have helped me greatly with my acute injuries, but Whealth has been the best resource in overcoming my chronic pain. I feel that I have made more progress in learning to overcome this chronic pain over the last 4 months than in the prior 4 years combined.

2) Because of Whealth, I am now in my best shape in years. I am now working on exercises everyday that I thought I would never be able to do again (like lifting weights), waking up with less pain and consistently redefining my limits. I am no longer afraid of injuries and feel that I now have the tools to prevent them from sidelining me, despite my hypermobility. I’m continuing to work everyday towards my goals, all of which keep getting heightened because of this program.

I am very glad that I decided to join the Limitless Program.
